New British Coins
The Royal Mint has unveiled the new British coins... as I said yesterday, the Royal Coat Of Arms. Meaning England, Scotland, and Ireland. NO WALES.
And get this... they were designed by a Welshman! Matthew Dent, from Bangor. Unbelievable.
And they want us to swear allegiance to this Royalty, who doesn't even acknowledge we exist. Erm... no.

If Mr Dent really is Welsh (rather than just living in Wales) then I suspect he must be doing his bit to advance the cause of the Welsh Republic. This design is a kick in the teeth from those same lovely royals who imposed a phoney, alien "Prince of Wales". As it says (said) on the old coins: Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad!

I think that's him.
Yeah, I'm not sad to see the feathers going, but these coins are supposed to "celebrate the unity and history of Britain". Trouble is, when the Royal Coat Of Arms was designed, the Royals didn't recognise Wales, it's a part of England to them, which is why England is on there twice. Ireland! They've been a republic for almost 100 years, so why is Ireland on there? Bizarre
The design was an open competition, anyone could enter. They chose Mr Dent's design because it was "clever" (if you arrange the coins it makes the full shield picture).
The sooner Wales becomes a republic the better. We can have our own coins (probably be Euros). And passport booths on the Severn Bridge ;)
